This is the Original (1sh) movie poster KING CREOLE. It is a re-release original French Grande movie poster issued by Rene Chateau Editions i n - what we believe to be - the 1980s. An astute viewer informed us that the re-release issued in the 1970s 1978?

Has a Eagle on the bottom left as opposed to a Puma (the 80s version). As always, we welcome any comments, corrections, or opinions on our listings and their accuracy for - at least for myself - I continue to learn more about original movie posters constantly. The original KING CREOLE movie and movie poster were released in 1958. This French Grande poster is not a reprint nor a reproduction.

The movie stars Elvis Presley, Carolyn Jones, Walter Matthau , Dolores Hart, Dean Jagger, Liliane Montevecchi, Vic Morrow , and Paul Stewart. It was directed by Michael Curtiz and the artwork is by Jean Mascii. This unrestored movie poster is Folded and measures 47 x 62.75. The poster has 3 vertical and 3 horizontal folds, or 9 cross Folds.. Most original movie posters pre-1985 are Folded. This is not considered a flaw or a defect. This original movie poster is graded C8.5 Very Fine to Near Mint. Original movie posters are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), C4 (Good), etc.

It is difficult to find any pre-1985 original movie posters graded C10 (Mint). This original movie poster is immediately ready for framing and display. We also noticed upon very close inspection that there are about 3 faint crease lines on the left cheek of Elvis (see photos). But these are seen only under bright light and with close inspection. At only a few feet away they are unobtrusive.

We also believe that once the poster is laid flat and professionally framed, that many, if not all, of the extra crease lines at the cross folds and the pronounced right side vertical Fold line will be (greatly) alleviated. Another option is to have the French Grande poster linen backed which will assuredly remove all of the crease lines and significantly reduce the Fold lines to almost "no Fold lines".

It captures the King and the vibe of the movie in a spectacular fashion.
