In an 1865 handbook for travelers, Grand Condé is listed under the category of silk mercers (or traders), and is mentioned as being well-known for the rich and attractive display of the windows. In this woodblock engraving, an anonymous artist promotes the store with an image of its namesake, Louis de Bourbon, Prince of Condé.
